What is the safest way to save jobs from LinkedIn?

The lowest-risk workflow is boring on purpose: review a role yourself, save the link or enter the job manually, and keep the human decision before any application is submitted.

LinkedIn's Automated activity guidance says it does not allow third-party software or browser extensions that scrape, change the site's appearance, or automate activity. LinkedIn says this violates its User Agreement, which separately bans software, scripts, robots, crawlers, browser plugins, and add-ons used to scrape or copy the service.

Indeed's Terms of Service ban automated systems, including bots and scrapers, from accessing, data-mining, or submitting content without express written permission. They also ban automated job applications unless Indeed explicitly provides the tool or agrees to it in writing.

That is clear platform policy. It is not the same question as whether a particular act is unlawful in your country.

Five job-saving and automation options compared

This table describes published mechanisms. It does not accuse Teal, Simplify, or Huntr of violating a platform's terms. An extension can have different behaviour on different sites, and only the vendor and platform can confirm an approved integration.

ApplyArc extension: waitlist, not a scraper

ApplyArc's extension is waitlist-only/private beta. The first release is a shortcut that opens the dashboard. Browser job saving remains on the roadmap.

Teal: verify the current extension mechanism

Teal publishes a job tracker and resume builder. Its current pricing page was access-blocked during our 31 July 2026 check, so no price or AI allowance is quoted here.

If you are considering Teal for LinkedIn, ask a narrow question: does the current extension save the role you are viewing, or does it scrape search results or automate activity? The answer affects policy risk. A vendor's general reputation does not answer it.

Choose Teal when: its current, documented browser and resume workflow fits your search and you are comfortable with the relevant platform rules.

Simplify Copilot: autofill and automatic tracking

Simplify's official Copilot page says it autofills application forms, tailors resumes, and automatically tracks applications submitted with Copilot.

Those are useful job-seeker tasks, but they are not proof that every action is approved on every job board. Check the board's terms and the exact extension behaviour before enabling automation.

Choose Simplify when: repetitive application forms are the main problem and you want submitted applications recorded automatically.

Huntr: tracker plus Chrome extension

Huntr's official pricing page lists a job tracker and Chrome extension alongside resume and cover-letter tools. It publishes a free plan, $40 monthly billing, and $90 every three months.

Huntr's public product pages establish that the extension exists. They do not establish permission from LinkedIn, Indeed, or every site where a browser extension might run.

Choose Huntr when: you already use its tracker and want the vendor's browser workflow, after checking how it behaves on the board you use.

JobSpy: bulk scraping is not the safe recommendation

JobSpy's official repository describes a Python library that scrapes LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Google, ZipRecruiter, and other job boards. It can request many results and export them to CSV.

That mechanism is why this guide does not recommend JobSpy as a safe way to collect LinkedIn or Indeed jobs. LinkedIn bans scraping and automated browser tools. Indeed bans bots, scrapers, data mining, and automated submissions without express written permission.

Open source means the code is available under its licence. It does not mean a platform has approved the requests it makes.

Use JobSpy only where you have permission and the target site's rules allow the access. Do not connect it to a real account or run bulk collection against LinkedIn or Indeed based on this guide.

Legality and platform rules are different questions

Whether collecting publicly visible data is lawful depends on the country, the data, how access is obtained, privacy law, database rights, computer-misuse law, and what you do with the result.

Platform-contract risk is separate:

• LinkedIn: its prohibited-software guidance and User Agreement ban scraping and automated activity by third-party tools
• Indeed: its Terms ban bots, scrapers, data mining, bulk automated access, and automated applications without permission
• Account consequences: a platform can restrict access under its contract even where a court has not declared a category of public-data collection unlawful

Do not turn one court decision, one vendor's marketing page, or one browser-store listing into a blanket claim that scraping is safe.

A policy-aware job-search workflow

1. Use alerts supplied by the platform

Let LinkedIn, Indeed, or another board send its own job alerts. That avoids automated collection by a third-party tool.

2. Review the role yourself

Open the listing, confirm the employer and fit, then decide whether it belongs in your tracker.

3. Save the link or enter the role manually

Manual entry is slower than bulk scraping but keeps the decision visible. ApplyArc's web tracker supports this today.

4. Tailor the application

Use the role description to review your CV and draft application material. Check every generated claim against your real experience.

5. Submit and record the result

Apply through the employer or board workflow you chose, then move the role through your tracker and set a follow-up.

This does not guarantee that a platform will approve every browser tool. It simply avoids recommending bulk scraping or unattended submission as low-risk.

Is LinkedIn job scraping legal?

There is no universal legal answer. Lawfulness depends on jurisdiction and facts. LinkedIn's platform rule is clear, though: its prohibited-software guidance and User Agreement ban third-party scraping and automated activity, including browser plugins used to scrape or copy the service. Contract and account risk are separate from criminal or civil legality.

Can I use a browser extension to save LinkedIn jobs?
