Helped → Co-built: Engineering Bullets Without Fabricating Seniority

Free · No signup · Recruiter-reviewed

Kept the 'contribution' framing (Co-built, not Led) so the candidate isn't claiming ownership they didn't have, but added a defensible scope detail and a specific window only this candidate can prove.

Co-built the AWS service migration, owning the data-tier cutover for 3 services and a 6-hour zero-downtime window.

What changed and why

  • 'Helped X' → never rewrite as 'Led X'. Recruiters call this seniority fabrication and bin the resume.
  • Use Co-built, Partnered on, or Contributed to — then add the SPECIFIC slice of work the candidate owned.
  • Defensible specifics (a freeze window, a service count) prove the candidate did the work without inflating their role.
  • If you can't prove a number from the original bullet, omit it — adding fake scope is the #1 recruiter trust-killer.

Recruiter perspective

“Co-built tells me they were in the room. The 6-hour window is the kind of detail no one fakes.”
